What to consider before pairing a mattress with an adjustable base.

Compatibility comes first

Not every mattress and base combination is appropriate. Flexible foam and many hybrid mattresses can work with adjustable bases, but the manufacturer should explicitly confirm compatibility.

Think about how you will use it

Head and foot articulation, preset positions, split configurations and massage features add cost. Choose features based on actual use rather than the longest feature list.

Measure the whole setup

Check mattress size, frame dimensions, total bed height, power access and whether an existing headboard or bed frame can accommodate the base.
