Follow the manufacturer's setup instructions and ventilate the room. Avoid adding improvised chemical treatments to a new mattress.

Certification is specific

Programs such as CertiPUR-US apply to qualifying flexible polyurethane foam and have defined emissions and content criteria. They should not be described as certifying every component of a finished mattress.
